Talking Leadership With Bad Girl Ventures Founder, Candace Klein

Bad Girl Ventures and SoMoLend founder Candace Klein visited the Rosetta team in Cleveland, and our other North American offices virtually via video conference, to talk leadership. Candace’s truly inspiring story of challenge, success, failure and motivation to continue towards her dream really imprinted on me and so many others here. From modest beginnings she funded her way through law school, became an attorney and then went on to start two businesses dedicated to helping develop female leaders. Her talk centered on pivoting away from failures until you find your way to success and provided actionable advice to those in attendance. Read More

Google’s +1 Button – What Does it Mean for Paid and Earned Media?

Google +1 icon

Google has grown as a marketing company over the past years, reaching a dominant position in search as the most used search engine in the world, according to Hitwise and comScore.  Now it wants to take on social media, in particular Facebook, and become the top choice for community activities such as sharing news and photos with network and family.  A part of this effort involved implementation of the increasingly ubiquitous chicklets called Google Plus One (+1) buttons, which have grown from birth to adolescence in 2011.

Recently, I attended the Forrester Consumer Forum and got the chance to hear James McQuivey, Ph.D., a Vice President and Principal Analyst for Forrester, speak about a different type of digital disruptor.

His version of a “Digital Disruptor” was defined as people / companies who are exploiting technology to make themselves, stronger, faster, and better than you. Originally people dismissed this thinking that it only applied to the music or media industries, but digital disruption has expanded and examples can now be found in any industry. Read More

A Common Thirst

Water is Glorious

We recognize a great idea when we see one. Even when it’s not ours.

We may live in a connected world, where literally everything imaginable is just a click away, but for nearly 1 billion people, the most basic human need is far from reach.

More than 880 million people lack access to safe water supplies. The average woman must walk 3.7 miles a day across rough, treacherous terrain to find water. And once they get there, more often then not, the well is contaminated or dry. The result: a child dies from a water-related disease every 20 seconds.

Hearing facts like these brought tears to our eyes. But hearing about Water.org brought hope and inspiration. Read More
