Political Infographic – Presidential Online Marketing Efforts

This is a record setting election year with the US Presidential candidates each spending over one billion dollars and the Internet is a major battleground. A large sum of investment in advertising, especially digitally, demonstrates a shift in the war for consumers’ votes.

Our team will release a study next Monday that looks at each campaign’s performance across Paid, Owned and Earned Media (POEM) and here is a preview of some of that data in the infographic below. Let us know what you think and if this is what you would have expected. Happy Halloween!

    Would be interesting to see the effectiveness of the video campaign efforts of each candidate. The rankings have changed now, but in the month before the campaign:

    A search for “Obama” on YouTube resulted in videos where 95% of them were uploaded by barackobamadotcom

    A Search for “Romney” on YouTube would result in videos that were 3rd party videos that were parodies or “Romney exposed” videos

    Interesting and effective use of the medium by the Obama campain.
